Beer Review: GREEN FLASH CITRA SESSION

Beer Review: GREEN FLASH CITRA SESSION

Green Flash Brewing has long occupied a cherished spot in the hearts of many beer enthusiasts, myself included, primarily attributable to their consistently exceptional hop profiles across various brews. During a recent visit to the Highway 78 locale, my encounter with the Citra Session left a lasting impression. Despite my anticipation, this particular offering, unfortunately, falls victim to the capricious dance of supply and demand surrounding the coveted Citra hop. Prospective enthusiasts might need to exercise patience until next year, when Green Flash secures a fresh supply.

Appearance: The Citra Session pours forth in a visually appealing manner, presenting a cloudy amber gold hue crowned by a billowy white head. It generously adorns the glass with ample lacing, signaling a promising start.

Aroma: The olfactory experience is a testament to the beer’s commitment to its Citra billing. The aromatic journey unfolds with prominent notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and orange, making their presence unmistakable even from a considerable distance.

Taste: On the palate, the beer delivers a harmonious blend of flavors. The grapefruit essence takes center stage, complemented by hints of English toffee-like malt. The finale is marked by a fruity denouement accompanied by a lingering bitterness, leaving a lasting impression.

Mouthfeel: While the overall experience is commendable, the mouthfeel introduces a touch of astringency. The beer boasts a medium-bodied character, coupled with a moderate level of carbonation. This interplay contributes to the complexity of the drinking sensation.

Overall: In summation, the Green Flash Citra Session stands out as a commendable creation. Its magnificence lies in its highly drinkable nature, coupled with a superlative taste profile that beckons the discerning palate. While the supply constraints may deter immediate gratification, the overall craftsmanship deserves applause. A job well done, indeed. Cheers to the artistry behind this brew.
